Up to $120K plus bonus

Our client, a local CPA firm in Lawrence, Ma is seeking a supervisor or Manager (depending on experience) to join the Fractional/Outsourced CFO team. This role reports to the practice leader and shareholder. You will manage multiple outsourced full-charge CFO engagements across industries (both nonprofit and for-profit), serving early-stage and mature entities. Responsibilities include client management, team development, and contributing to the growth of the practice.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and manage a portfolio of clients, overseeing daily accounting operations (A/P, A/R, billing, month-end and year-end close).
  • Take ownership of work and maintain attention to detail.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor direct reports.
  • Review associate research, processes, and conclusions for clarity and accuracy.
  • Prepare and review Balance Sheet, P&L, and General Ledger under accrual basis.
  • Oversee:
    • Monthly reconciliations of key accounts.
    • Monthly and annual closings, including adjusting journal entries.
    • Payroll journal entries and related processes.
    • Monthly close for assigned clients and preparation of financial statements.
  • Liaise with external CPA firms for assurance and tax engagements.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure timely collection of data for Form 1099 preparation.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles to complex engagements.
  • Identify potential accounting issues and propose solutions.
  • Perform research independently and resolve most issues encountered.
  • Stay current on new accounting pronouncements and apply insights to client needs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft products, QuickBooks (desktop and online), and other relevant applications.
  • Seek opportunities to leverage technology for client solutions and engagement efficiency.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication, meeting deadlines, and sharing strategies.
  • Participate in business development through networking and community involvement.
  • Communicate issues and opportunities to the Executive Team as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of recent full-charge corporate or public accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Significant QuickBooks experience (desktop and online).
  • Prior experience managing teams.
  • High level of discretion, integrity, and a positive attitude.
  • CPA license preferred but not required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to commute to the Lawrence, MA office.
